Equanimity

Our very name sake means - the capacity for mental or emotional stability or composure, especially under tension or strain; calmness; equilibrium.

That is our mission here at Equanimity Allied Health Services - whether you are accessing our Assessments, Psychological Supports and Interventions, from our Child and Adolescent focused centre throughout our entire range of services spanning all ages, we are here to support you in a way that suits you! All of our clinicians are trauma informed and faciliate our Trauma Dedicated Centre, which also offers an outreach service to our local Veteran’s Hub once per fortnight, and we remain accessible to Veterans everyday in between. Whether you are seeking clarity from our complex diagnostic focused practitioners for children through adulthood, seeking support through relationships and discernment therapy, or whether you are seeking more physical injury services with our soft tissue specialist and injury repair, our centre is here to support you to find the right clinician to help you maintain as much stability as possible, under the unavoidable strain of life, regardless of what is thrown at us!

Welcome to Equanimity!

We Do Psychology (and soft tissue injury) Differently!

Our approach

At Equanimity we are not your typical therapists. As a collective we are eclectic, client centred and humane. We are honest and direct but still caring and compassionate. We as clinicians have bad days. We are real. We will not do the work for you. We will help you to help yourself. We will never ask you to do anything we have not tried ourselves. We ‘get’ trauma. We understand ‘exhaustion’. We know how frustrating therapy can be when it just doesn’t help, and let’s face it, sometimes, when you are panicked, upset, angry or sad - meditation, breathing or going for a walk just isn’t on the radar - We get it!

This journey of life can be extremely complicated, rough, difficult to navigate, and it can also be joyful, empowering, strengthening and surprising, but we do not have to seek out Equanimity alone, it is far more fun to cry while you’re laughing with someone who is happy to sit with you in your emotion and walk with you to find the way forward in a way that works for you..your child…your family…your relationship….your life.

We would love to meet you, and see if we can find our way forward.

Equanimity has been serving the Australian and International communities for well over 25 years now and is in it’s 14th year on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW. Our vision was always to ‘do psychology differently’ and we are passionate about continuing that legacy with ever evolving creativity, not just for the benefit of our community in offering gold standard evidence based practice, but in creating a work environment that doesn’t just talk about having fun and being supportive and encouraging of both individual and team well-being, but actually following through on delivering.

At Equanimity, it is our vision to not only remove the stigma around mental health, but to go further and make help-seeking and psychological support a natural and comfortable part of life. To walk into Equanimity, is as comfortable and inviting, as walking into your favourite café. Something to anticipate eagerly.

At Equanimity, we ‘Do Psychology Differently’. Break free from the ordinary and explore innovative approaches to the mental health journey – whilst maintaining evidence-based practice and the highest level of ethics and best practice.

An Equanimity Psychologist or Clinician demonstrates unwavering integrity in every interaction and conduct and finds a way to deliver this with initiative, ease and safety.

Enter a safe space where therapy happens with ease and without you noticing …

Equanimity’s amazing space never feels like a ‘clinic’, nor do our rooms feel like ‘treatment rooms’, this is a place of comfort, safety and relaxation….and as a result healing and fun, for both our visitors and our team. This is a space where therapy happens without you noticing. You will enter our space to beautiful music, sensory lighting and smells, comfortable seating, an offer of something to drink and an environment to take off the mask you are forced to show to the world.

In-person and remote options

We are located in beautiful Erina Heights, on the Central Coast of NSW, surrounded by beautiful gum trees and the sounds of bell birds on most days, and the chorus of cicadas, with ample parking outside our front door. We have accessible toilets, and a cafe only three doors down with amazing food and coffee! Can’t make it in to the office? No problem, we offer telehealth options, even at short notice if you get caught at work, or find yourself unwell or on babysitting duties at short notice.
