Fees and Payment Procedure
The cost of a consultation (usually around 50 minutes)varies between practitioner as does the amount of medicare rebate applicable, so please ask your practitioner or our receptionist when booking what fees are applicable. All fees are payable at the end of the session.
We have a sliding scale of fees at equanimity to ensure accessibility and affordability with fees ranging from $170 to $350 per session (couples therapy). We also have a variety of rebates from psychology ($96.65) to Clinical Psychology ($141.65) to NDIS direct invoicing, SIRA and DVA at gazetted rates and gap equivalent provisional psychologists.
We also offer interest free payment plans via Klarna and Afterpay and Zip for Assessments and similar treatment plans to facilitate early intervention and NDIS applications where applicable.
Our assessments are also client centred in pricing - we are not going to charge you a ‘standard’ fee for an assessment if you already have had some of the assessment done elsewhere and can provide that information - so please don’t hesitate to contact us and discuss your query regardless of the issue.
Rebates apply for neuro-developmental assessments for those under the age of 25 years with Medicare - please ask us how to access those.
Equanimity are a pre-billing clinic, which means that in order to streamline billing and rebates we store your preferred card for payment processing following your appointment, securely in line with privacy laws and similarly to your Doctors office if they also follow pre billing practices, which means that we can process your fee and process your medicare or health fund rebate on the day of attendance.
If you have a workers compensation claim or NDIS claim, please provide your claim number and associated approval and billing/invoicing details prior to your first session. DVA clients remain unchanged and are billed directly to the Dept of Veterans Affairs.
If you have an eligible referral from your GP and you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate, your rebate can be processed for you before you leave Equanimity Psychological Services Pty Ltd.
To enable this, ensure you have a current referral on file at all times that is reviewed by your GP after every 6 and then 4 sessions (total of 10 sessions per calendar year).
Your session fee must be paid in full to Equanimity Psychological Services Pty Ltd prior to claiming your Medicare rebate in to your account, as you would at the Doctors.
Just paying for the 'gap' is not acceptable to Medicare and will not be accepted by Equanimity Psychological Services Pty Ltd.
We do however, have HICAPS, and if you have a participating fund, we can charge your fee to HICAPS and then charge the remaining gap to your stored card on day of appointment.
We do not bulk bill at this practice. Therefore, billing and payment procedure requires the following:
-Current referral - if you are medicare eligible
-Payment in full at time of session.
-Medicare rebate processed back in to your account
From time to time, Equanimity may have interns available to see you that are charged at a lesser rate or may be able to work with you for a limited number of sessions without charge. This is a result of them not being eligible for a medicare rebate as yet as they complete the final stages of their training in placement. If this is something you would like to explore, please let reception know on reception@equaco.com.au and we will let you know as interns become available.
